Neil Engebretsen was born in the Waikato and raised in different regions of the central North Island, specifically farming environments. Neil is currently residing in the BOP.
Neil’s working life was navigated by his child hood experience and continued with agricultural based vocations, fencing, dry stock and dairy farming and including volunteering for the flood relief team in Taranaki after Cyclone Bola devastated the area in 1988. During this time Neil gained a good grasp of general engineering repairing agricultural equipment and also in construction.

During this time Neil gained a good grasp of general engineering repairing agricultural equipment and also in construction.
An easy shift to earth moving followed as he had a high level of competence with large machinery and knowledge of the land.
Unbeknown to Neil, a major change was about to occur in his life, he joined the last circus to travel New Zealand with exotic animal species. It started with basic logistics, helping on days he was available too do so.
Over the months to follow, it was clear to Neil that the animal husbandry and welfare needed more support than it was receiving so he organised a caravan and hit the road leaving behind his old life and becoming totally devoted to an African Elephant, 3 Lions, 4 monkeys, ponies, donkeys and more.
Neil quickly learnt the different facets of the industry, quickly becoming the marketing manager and finally contracted to managing the whole show, including staff, along side of the owner.
His experiences during this time included managing corporate hires, tv, film, animals. Also, building and resource consents, writing and presenting submissions for welfare codes, building meaningful relationships with local and central government, health and safety, training artist and general staff, immigration documents for overseas acts and more.
Although having a busy itinerant schedule, Neil found time to mentor/ share knowledge with other business owners, as conversation flowed easy.
Nine years later, with the bulk of the animals retired, the Circus Big Top was sold to a former Artist/employee and Neil spent the next three years mentoring and in support of the new show owners.

At this same time, a new adventure was on offer, Stage manager for a Boutique Opera production, it was a last minute ask as the request came three days before opening and opening night was the sponsors evening. The answer was yes. His involvement in the Boutique
continued and led to 5 months in Europe.
Upon arriving back in NZ, it was time to lay some solid foundations, while voluntarily helping with the arts where he could, Neil entered into transport and logistics, this included driving bulk fluids, containers and dispatching while completing his own housing project.
Project complete, he moved into independent contracting for larger businesses who only needed project based assistance from a specialist as per requirements. These were mostly around commercial construction, earthmoving, heavy transport including over dimensional loads, piloting, cranes in many parts of NZ.
Neil, who has completed various coaching programs, combines his hands on experiences and understandings, in his approach to finding practical solutions for any challenging situations, needing positive outcomes.
