Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need for Yoga?

An internet connection, a device (phone / notepad / laptop / computer - audio & video optional).  A mat for your safety, bolster/pillow, block.  Wear clothes that are easy to move in, have something warm in the winter months near by.

What type of Yoga?

Our instructor/s lead a very gentle form of Hatha Yoga. We do vary from the strict practice and do not ask your body to be in difficult or complex positions.   If you are seeking a strong practice - this is not the place.  We offer a Gentle, Purposeful & Insightful practice with options for exactly where your body is at.  PLUS we also highly recommend being gentle in every action to prolong the continuing ability to move freely.

What if I have an injury?

First, you must take care of yourself, recovering from injuries and operations is a day by day progression.  If your body is ready to regain movement and you take the "getting on the mat" seriously, it is healthy to sit out some asana/forms/shapes.

What if I haven't done Yoga before?

If you haven't done yoga before - let us share (It maybe perfect time if you have arrived here today, and there is no time like the present) - give Yoga a try with us.  We do gentle, purposeful, insightful practice.

You are guided gently
One Movement at a Time
And...its all an invitation to participate
We also offer a Yoga Foundations course that can settle your mind, body and emotions into a healthy practice.

Our Suggestion is - Don't over think it - its not a THINKING Practice.  Its a practice of mindfulness in motion.  Come explore with us.

What if I want more than just the basics?

If you desire to continue your practice at a more committed level - you can always join us at Sunrise Yoga.

What do we mean by Daily Practice?

Our version of a daily practice in simple terms is:   The commitment to continue.   Indicative that it is an ongoing process, something we continue to refine, alter as our values change/shift/adapt, that we make important to support the lives that we live.   A daily practice is deliberate and disciplined.  The benefits are significant to the individual and very far reaching.

Is Yoga good for menopause?

There are significant benefits for the menopausal body, please do your own research and explore possibilities.

We will speak from an experience framework:  Karyn, our co-founder and who is one of our yoga instructors decided later in life to add Yoga Teaching to her skills and abilities - this is because it made such a difference for her life during her menopausal journey.   SO, her answer is - YES the benefits are significant in balancing out the body, learning the new shape and ways of being, exploring the systems of the body, keeping the flow and movement youthful and continuing the ability to feel good about the woman's body that emerges after the literal reproductive years have passed.   YET - keeping us passionate, purposeful and peaceful in our life.
